What do people make of this (Season 20) 1983 story written by Steve Gallagher?

This is the analysis from the official BBC website (WARNING! SPOILERS): http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/episodeguide/terminus/analysis.shtml

Hi, my name's Nyssa. I'm feeling a bit hot. Mind if I strip to my underwear for no very good reason?

Nyssa uses the board? Cool ! Smile How ya going?

Actually more than that I remember the funny space suits of the Bandits/ Crims who came aboard to search for salvage. Can anyone not remember the helmets they wore?
oh.. lets not forget the hair styles. Purely early 80's!

I think this story is great ammunition for the "companions did next to nothing during the Davison era" argument.

That's the best I can say about it.

This was Mary Ridge's only Doctor Who serial that she directed.

She had previously directed episodes of Blake's 7 including the final episode Blake.
Funnily enough she made her directorial debut on Blake's 7 in the similarly titled Terminal.

Just saw the trailer for Blake's 7 season 4 on the season 3 DVD which includes the final scene of the final episode directed by Terminus director Mary Ridge.

This is a sad one for me - We say goodbye to Nyssa and another tie is broken with the Baker era.

Totally agree with that, very sad indeed. But on a positive note, we do get to see Nyssa get her gear off Very Happy

Maybe when she caught Lazar disease it made her feel hot and thus removed clothes as people with flus also do. Or maybe the virus eats clothes off peoples bodies.

Matt

Nyssa got her kit off? I didnt see any nudity!

Perhaps Sarah Sutton was playing strip poker with the camera crew during this story, and apparently not winning...

Don't worry, the next season will be the beginning of the Baker era once again.

I quite enjoyed the first part, and yes, nyssa is looking quite nice. Doppy looking space suits though.

Liza Goddard (Kari) was then married to Colin Baker. Now this is not the first time that the wife of a future Doctor has appeared on the series. Back in the 1960s Jean Marsh who played Princess Joanna in The Crusade and as short-time companion Sara Kingdom in The Daleks Master Plan during the Hartnell era was then married to Jon Pertwee.

Have to agree about the sill space suits. I was thinking they would have been right at home in a Duran Duran film clip.

There is so much potential in this episode. Weren't the sets scalped from the scrap heap after the filming of Alien was complete?....Nyssa was in her pants......Tegan is in it (!!!!!!!)........Nyssa strips to her pants..........Peter Davidson does some great work despite a dodgy script.....Nyssa strips to her pants..........Nyssa...(OK im running out of things to say)

BUT

This is awful. I watch DW with a five year old gir who cant understand why Nyssa has to run through the magic door in her bedroom to be safe. What happens to her room? Turloughs overacting at the end of the episode is appalling (This is a Lazar colony!!!) craptacular at best. even Tegan comes off looking a bit crap in her distrusating exchanges with Turlough. Its Awful. Spacesuits are crap, big bad wolf is crap, sets are crap....I could go on.....Worst episode ever!!

Yeah, Doctor #6 ...I didn't watch alot of his stuff but if memory serves me correctly Tegan continues on to travel with him ...and then voluptous Peri hops on board from somwhere? I haven't seen any Doc #7 but have heard he did some good stories, a bit of luck the ABC will view his work?
