The BBC has confirmed commissioning a new series of Robin Hood which would be a 13-episode stablemate of Doctor Who in the family drama timeslot on Saturdays when the Time Lord finishes the season in 2006.
The following link provides a picture of someone we all know:

3/2/07: I have now decided to make this a thread of all things Robin Hood.

| T.S - do you think it is likely to be picked up by the ABC? |

| Well it could be possible the ABC could pick it up (after all they did show last week Fact or Fiction: Robin Hood) but without knowing how the ABC actually operates internally I don't really know. |

| This sounds interesting, I wonder how it will go. I love the mythology of Robin Hood, and would be interested in seeing how it turns out as a TV series. |

I agree it will be interesting to see as well.
Meanwhile the BBC would not confirm that a ransom has been made for the tapes or that they were the only copies. The BBC does say that despite the theft, they will still show the series as planned:

Most BBC shows are offered to the ABC first. If the ABC decides to pass on the show it will be offerred to a commercial network.
Wether the ABC decides to pick up a show depends on it's UK ratings and wether or not the local programmers think there is both a timeslot and a demographic that will watch it.
Bottom line it also depends on how much CASH the ABC has. Funding to the ABC has been cut dramatically over the last decade. I wouldn't be surprised if potentially successful series have been passed over by the ABC simply because they are under funded.
I'd suggest you start writing to your local member if you want a better ABC. |

You can't go past "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" with Richard Green which ran from 1955-1960. I recall seeing it on australian tv as late as the mid 70s before the introduction of colour. It's available on DVD.
"Robin Of Sherwood" was an eighties update that changed it's leading man half way through its run. I recall little about it except that the music used in the show by Glannad was very popular at the time. Also available on DVD.
And of course you cannot go past the true authentic retelling of the Robin Hood legend; "Maid Marian And Her Merry Men". Also available on DVD locally; but the UK release comes with a comic booklet.
Looks like everything old is new again. |

Just found out that the tapes has since been recovered.
The series started in the UK a few days ago on October 7. |

Thanks to someone I know I got to see the first episode yesterday.
The first episode got a negative reaction when it was originally aired last month and it seemed very apt that the title of the episode is Will You Tolerate This?
Personally I don't think this was as awful as everybody said it is but it was not spectacular either.
However was surprised to see as Thornton, John Carlisle because I am also seeing him in his regular role on The Omega Factor on DVD. |

Sunhill Fire at Gallifrey said that the ABC will be airing the the new BBC series before June this year. Finally glad that we are going to see it.
Viewing update: Since my previous post I have seen episode 4. Hopefully I will get to see the remaining 9 episodes of season 1 on the ABC. |

| Robin Hood has been included in the ABC's April ad. Just a couple of scenes and no need to worry about anything spoilerly about them. |

| After The West Wing this morning saw an ad of Robin Hood which tells us to meet Little John, Marian and Robin Hood and it says that it is coming soon. |
