What's you favourite story in the 1979/80 series.
(Note: I've excluded Shada as it wasn't finished...) |

| I've voted for the most sublime Who story ever - The Horns of Nimon. Well, actually, I meant City of Death. If Doctor Who had no other reason to exist, this story justifies everything that came before and since... |

| Well, it's a bit of a mismatch, really - City of Death against the rest. Although there are some decent episodes within the stories (I'm excluding Destiny of the Daleks from that), City of Death just has the best package of any of them. |

City of Death - the best one in a very bad season.
Horns of Nimon is one of the worst stories of all (in Dr Who). Great pantomime for the kiddies. |

| While Nimon has is moments ("weakling scum!"), there's really only one story in the running here. City of Death all the way. At present it has 100% of the votes. Funny that. |

I haven't seen City Of Death since it was originally broadcast (I deliberately skipped it on TV recently - waiting for the forthcoming DVD)
I remember loving it at the time. |

City of Death. Duh!
Oh, and as mentioned above... loads of daylight. Wee, I've used an Australian term. |

Well I must break with the pack here and vote for Creature From The Pit.
City of Death would win for class but I really enjoy the script for Pit. Tom and Geoff Bayldon worked really well together. Some of the funniest and most well-timed lines were delivered in this story. It has me in stiches every time!
The scruffy barbarian guys remind me of a show I used to watch as a kid called 'The Lost Islands'. Does anyone remember that? I have looked out for it for many years and have not heard of it since the late 70's. I can't even remember what it was about. I just remember watching it religiously after school. |

| Just finished reading the details of City of Death in The Legend book and under the subheading "Fawlty Tardis" in regards to the presence of John Cleese and Eleanor Bron, it says that both of them requested that there will be no advanced publicity of their appearance in the serial. So Graham Williams requested they be billed in the Radio Times under pseudonyms with him saying in the memo that he didn't want to give the impression that there will be a surprise "star" each week. The request was denied but on record the pseudonyms were Kim Bread (Cleese) and Helen Swanetsky (Bron). |

...just watched City of Death on DVD, and it's every bit as exquisite as I remember it to be. And I've been to Paris a few times since the last time I saw it, and there's always something special about seeing places you've been to on screen. Too late to start watching the special features tonight - I'll have to get back to you on that one. |

| Sigh. City of Death. This is why I love Romana II (and the story's great too). |
