my favourite bit of silliness was when the Cyberleader barks: "You Insult us?!" Great way of not getting emotional there!

I was wondering where the authorities were, but then UNIT the ploice or the regular army would have just made the story even more muddled.

I haven't really watched the older Cyberman stuff, but I like The Invasion, where Cybermen can be killed by our weapons, it's just really really hard, and many UNIT troops die for the effort!

I heard RTD say somewhere that in the early years, people feared having body parts replaced, and this was played on with the advent of the Cybermen (particularly the very creepy 10th planet cybermen, with much of their original bodies still visible), but as replacing body parts is now rather common, people are less afraid than they used to be. So it's not something that could be played on very successfully in the new series.

Bah... RTD is a hypocrite, then. Wasn't the whole horror of the Daleks at the end of Series One that they used humans to create Daleks? That they hated their own skins? Replacing body parts not squeamish enough? Try having a Cyberman telling you that he's going to replace your genitals with a CPU unit and don't squirm in fear. Honestly, I think it would be MORE relevant nowadays to have this... I mean, the removal of emotion? If you want that, watch any primetime soap.

I heard Nemesis was edited when they knew they werent going to be coming back for more series. It originally included more references to the Doctor being more than just another timelord, a line which was cut from remembrance of the daleks.

I'm not sure but I read about it. Something to do with Lady Peneforte (i think thats her) shaking her head and mouthing something which seems to have been cut. I don't think it was a massive thing. It may ahve been edited because they decided not to bring in the story arc that early and not coz the series was ending.

No worries. I walys thought it would have interesting for a future story to explore the 'mystery' behind the Doctor.

Absolutely. However, it would be interesting for everyone out there in fandom to put forward their theories on what the mystery actually is. Perhaps it might relate to why the Doctor left Gallifrey with a 'borrowed' TARDIS in the first place?

Lungbarrow does deal with the origins of the Doctor, and may answer these questions. (Of course, there may be further information not revelaed in the novel.)

Don't forget, it's available for free as an eBook over at the BBC's official Doctor Who web site.

After Silver Nemesis, it wouldn't have surprised me to see the Cybermen getting destroyed by wind, rain, hail - and harsh language...
