DAVID TENNANT will quit hit British TV show DOCTOR WHO in a bid to pursue a career in Hollywood. Tennant, 36, who made his first outing as the infamous Time Lord in December 2005, will allegedly quit the show next year (0Cool. According to reports, he will be replaced by John Simm, 35, star of 1999 cult British film Human Traffic. A source tells British newspaper News Of The World, "John (Simm) is absolutely over the moon. "He's got a six-year-old son who is a massive Doctor Who fan and he can't believe his dad is going to get to fly the Tardis at work." And Simm is no stranger to the sci-fi series - he already starred in three episodes of the show earlier this year (07), as Doctor Who's nemesis, The Master.

I don't believe it. I really don't believe it. Do you know why I don't believe it? Because this site also made reports that Rose was going to come back for the '06 Christmas special.

I don't believe it because it doesn't sound like something David would do (look at me, saying that like I know him or something). I think it was in an interview for 'Learners' that he said he wasn't chasing a Hollywood career, that he didn't have a 5-year plan and was just taking roles as they came....Here's the link

I guess there's always the chance he's taken a role in a Hollywood movie....and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. I love seeing David as the Doctor, but he's such a great actor that I can't really begrudge him doing other projects.

In any case, I'm not sure why anyone chasing a Hollywood career would take a year away from top rating TV to appear in stage productions by the Royal Shakespeare Company. It's not a case of adding anything new to his resume (Tennant has done quite a bit of work with the RSC before...).

Now, if he was taking a year away from a top-rating TV show to do a movie or two, the story might seem more credible.
