DAVID TENNANT will quit hit British TV show DOCTOR WHO in a bid to pursue a career in Hollywood. Tennant, 36, who made his first outing as the infamous Time Lord in December 2005, will allegedly quit the show next year (0 . According to reports, he will be replaced by John Simm, 35, star of 1999 cult British film Human Traffic. A source tells British newspaper News Of The World, "John (Simm) is absolutely over the moon. "He's got a six-year-old son who is a massive Doctor Who fan and he can't believe his dad is going to get to fly the Tardis at work." And Simm is no stranger to the sci-fi series - he already starred in three episodes of the show earlier this year (07), as Doctor Who's nemesis, The Master.

| I don't believe it. I really don't believe it. Do you know why I don't believe it? Because this site also made reports that Rose was going to come back for the '06 Christmas special. |

I don't believe it because it doesn't sound like something David would do (look at me, saying that like I know him or something). I think it was in an interview for 'Learners' that he said he wasn't chasing a Hollywood career, that he didn't have a 5-year plan and was just taking roles as they came....Here's the link
I guess there's always the chance he's taken a role in a Hollywood movie....and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. I love seeing David as the Doctor, but he's such a great actor that I can't really begrudge him doing other projects. |

In any case, I'm not sure why anyone chasing a Hollywood career would take a year away from top rating TV to appear in stage productions by the Royal Shakespeare Company. It's not a case of adding anything new to his resume (Tennant has done quite a bit of work with the RSC before...).
Now, if he was taking a year away from a top-rating TV show to do a movie or two, the story might seem more credible. |
