Series 01 of Torchwood will be available on DVD in Australia shortly.
Vol.01 - August 1st.
Vol.02 - September 5th.
Vol.03 - October 3rd.
Usual stuff about late changes to release dates etc. |

A box-set of the first season of Torchwood is due for release in the UK at a date that isn't yet set (speculation is for November through to sometime just before Christmas). What special features, if any, will be included is also unknown.
However, the three DVD releases phase5 mentions above are going to be 'vanilla' releases - no special features.
If you want more than just the episodes, it may be worth holding out for the box set - but it is a hard call as there's no info on special features available at this stage to help you decide, nor any way of working out which is the more cost-effective DVD purchase option. |

Not officially announced, but people have reported responses from 2|Entertain, which have included dates (for example, here and here).
Based on the first new series of Doctor Who and the vanilla releases, I now a number of people who bought the individual releases when they came out, then the box set and sold off the individual releases. That sounds like undue hassle to me, so flagging the probability of a box set is intended as a community service - although everyone is free to spend their money as they see fit, of course! |

Why can't they just release a complete box set of Series 1 only instead of these crappy individual releases just to milk more money out of fans? |

Having bought all three individual releases they definitely do have special features.
The only difference I can tell with the boxset is that it has commentaries on all 13 episodes which the individuals do not.
The boxset is now listed on EzyDVD but the exact Australian date is unknown:

| I didn't even get to see all of Torchwood due to Tens rubbish treatment of it. I hope that the ABC pick up season 2. Anyway, is the box set going to be the same price as the Dr. Who sets? |

| EzyDVD charges $99.83 for the set the same as for the Doctor Who 2007 set. |
