| Did any of you ever consider that the doctor is not the only remaining time lord? Romana is still in E space and would not have been involved in the war that Killed off all the other time lords. So in theory the doctor could return to E space and re populate the time lord race. for those of you not familiar with the early doctor who episodes this happened in the Tom Baker days. |

I... doubt it. That Romana's in E space, I mean. For a start, I can't imagine how a Time War that can reduce creatures to ethereal beings (Gelth) couldn't affect E space, particularly when we've seen that the two can intersect quite comfortably if you know how ('Warriors' Gate', mainly). Oh, and I'm certain that, as the Doctor suggested in 'Earthshock', there was a taxi service set up to transport lost Alzarians, so Romana could have taken one home.
Also, and I know this isn't definitive because canon isn't definitive, but I doubt that the New Series production team would openly contradict the Virgin New Adventures, Big Finish, the BBC EDAs etc. either. |

However, Romana aside...
Whatever happened to Susan? Or the Monk? Or Drax? Or the Rani? They were all alive and (at least possibly) not on Gallifrey when the Time War happened. |

But the Rani could well be a candidate too seeing as she was a renigade and was probably not interested in the affairs of the time lords. but could you really see the rani serving anything but her own self interestwhat would be in it for her except maybe for some twisted genetic experiment (her speciality). the monk too is a possibility being a recluse but we need a female here so he's not in the running . as for Susan not really a good option, incest is not a good image for the doctor remember she was supposed to be his grandaughter ( or was that just a cover for their time on earth? ) so it would be Romana No1 the Rani No2 and Susan? well lets not go there |

Well, at the simplest level, there's absolutely no way that two members of a species could repopulate a civilisation without incest...!
However, I was more concerned with the topic heading (about the Doctor not being the last of the Time Lords) than the prospect of repopulating Time Lord society.
You'd end up paddling in the shallow end of the gene pool in any case, even if you recruited everyone I listed - while a species isn't extinct while even one member survives, you need a fair old number to have something genetically viable.
In any case, given we've been assured that the Doctor is half-human on his mother's side, and is still counted as a Time Lord, why do you need another Time Lord at all? Maybe the Doctor is giving off a powerful 'I'm from an almost extinct species, breed with me' pheromone, which explains why Rose and Martha were so attracted to him... |

was there a book regarding this information....I'd certainly like to read it....maybe the Monk could regenerate into a female? |

The information is given in the 8th Doctor telemovie and has not been definitively refuted.
Maybe the similarities in the genetic structires of Time Lords and humans is why the chameleon bridge converts a Time Lord into a human (based on the only two examples that we have...)? |

If the animated SHADA webcast is considered canon, then Romana was actually in normal space and was head of the Time Lord council when the Time War ended. Therefore, it is likely she would have been killed. |
