Reads like yet another round of speculative filler to me - I always love it when unnamed representatives of the BBC/Doctor Who production office are said to have said something wishy-washy as proof that the non-story is true.

The form of the production office these days seems to be to deny rumours that contain the truth, rather than refusing to confirm or deny things.

That said, of course, it could be true...

but isn't she stuck in an alternative Universe where the TARDIS can not return, just like Romana (II)??

And weren't the Daleks and Time Lords all meant to be destroyed in the Time War? Anything can happen....

Just because it can, doesn't mean it should....

The BBC has confirmed that Billie will definitely return as Rose in three episodes of the 2008 season:

As much as I hate to say I told you so ... actually, I don't hate to at all. Told you so! After so many rumours and so many dodgy reports, it's finally happened. And I couldn't be happier Very Happy

Giddily, actually. A sort of "I'm wearing a straightjacket and am as sane as Jim Carrey" laugh. It's just that Series Four, at the moment, looks like a weird Greatest Hits and it's starting to make me laugh at how dodgy it actually looks.

'Course, I still could be completely wrong and pessimistic and just cynical and... well, yeah. But, you know, I have a feeling I'm right this time.

With Kylie Minogue kicking off proceedings, I'm inclined to agree so far. But let's not get too cynical before they've finished filming...

I'd much rather see Kylie in Doctor Who than... well, I can't be bovvered saying who...

Kylie can act, she's just had rather poor job selection until now. Rolling Eyes

It reads as a who's who ('scuse the pun) of everyone's favourite new series companions, back for a three part series finale! Smile

Yaaaay!......

And now for my real thoughts. RTD and the BBC team must be on something, seriously.

They cut the best companion of the revamp for half of series four and replace her with a red-haired, annoyingly-accented, pain-in-the-backside atrocity (and im not talking about Mel).

Now they're bringing back Rose! Its like some horrible nightmare in which one can only hope that the Doctor is over her, gets pissed off at her when its revealed that she's threatened the very fabric of space and time itself, and has the series culminate with her death.

Now even I would applaud that.

I thought series two was average, but I have a feeling that every even-numbered season is scheduled to be a let-down.

Thank goodness for classic series DVDs.

Haha, I agree; just like Billie Piper, Kylie Minogue's bearable on a sort of humourously bad level. Listening to her music, for me, is like listening to the Spice Girls, or watching 'Time and the Rani' - it's just a good laugh. Not like overly cynical, just... you know it's bad, and you enjoy it because and despite that.

Whereas, as you say, Catherine Tate is just irritating bad. I can't even laugh at her, that's how annoying she is.

Oh, and Commander, you're right about the "even number" thing. I think this is linked to how Russell has made it almost his subconscious desire to have a dark series, followed by light, etc, etc, for contrast. I don't mind contrast, but his version of "light" isn't warm and funny... it tends to be a bit smug and overdone ('New Earth', for instance - particularly the, "I've still got it" moment. I know he justified this by saying, "Cassandra's got a new body, of course she's going to experiment"... but why have the Doctor's reply, then?)

I don't like the idea of rose returning, but I am confident it will be handled well by the production team.

They handled an ageing 5th Doctor so well I can believe they can pull anything off!

I've watched some of the footage on YouTube, and was interested to see that Rose was wearing the exact same outfit she wore in the beach scene in Doomsday. I wonder how long it's been for her?

As far as Doctor Who goes Kylie acted the exact same way as Billie. She was a natural, would of been nice if she could of stuck around for a bit.
