The ABC will show the third season of Teachers from 1 December at 9:25pm. I heard that there is a Doctor Who reference in this season.
Meanwhile Teachers return on 1 December is TV WEEK's highlight of the day. |

Another Doctor Who connection is that Teachers star Andrew Lincoln (perhaps best known for his role in This Life) was rumoured to be the new Doctor - however, that ended up being Christopher Eccleston.
And another: Lincoln starred in The Canterbury Tales, as did Billie Piper - however in different tales. Lincoln was in The Man of Law's Tale (ironically, as he played a lawyer in This Life) whereas Piper was in The Miller's Tale (not so ironically, but Miller is my surname...).
Would this man have
made a good Doctor?

| Just months ago 9 showed Afterlife in which Andrew Lincoln is a regular alongside Chris Eccleston's The Second Coming co-star Lesley Sharp and most recently the ABC show the mini-series Lie With Me in which Lincoln starred alongside Paul McGann. |

| Following Blackpool last night, saw part of an ad for Teachers before seeing another one this time as a combo with Cutting It as part of the double line-up for Thursday nights. |

Series 3, Episode 1:
With much of the original cast now gone, the first episode of this season does not really impress me that much.
Here we meet Lindsay, the new biology teacher. Although a bit overweight, I don't think she is bad looking.
Matt and Penny having an affair does not look very convincing.
Thought it was awful of Brian and Kurt to ask an overweight kid in a class why no one fancies him right in front of his classmates.
Kurt does not seem concerned with Carol being pregnant even though the baby might be his.
The last scene sort of makes up for this episode's shortcomings. |

Series Three Episode Two:
After the dismal opening episode of the season, this is a vast improvement as Penny tries to make up for her past behaviour.
Quite amusing how Brian, Kurt and Matt tries to make Liz angry.
Couldn't believe the callous attitude to a teacher dying.
Quite funny that a class had to wait outside just as Lindsay teaches Penny on how to improve with herself and just when she is finishes the bell rings.
As I said before a definite improvement over the previous and let's hope there is more of it. |

Series Three, Episode Three:
Not quite as good as the previous episode but still better than the season opener.
Quite fun that Kurt gives up smoking to impress a mother only to find that she is a lost cause. Personally I do find her played by Zara Ramm to be very attractive.
Noticed the school sign as "Loud Common Schrews" as Kurt goes on the dangerous effects of smoking just as he and Brian arrive at the school. Loud Common Schrews is the anagram of Summerdown School. |

Series Three Episode Five:
It really gets to Lindsay that she is about to turn 30.
Usually we get Brian and Kurt on their way to school but this time we only see Lindsay and Penny on their way there.
Could not believe that Matt and Penny were doing it at Matt's wife's birthday party as Penny gets her revenge on him for dumping her. |

Series Three, Episode Six:
In this episode, Brian says he "reverse the polarity" when he fixed the kettle. However this was not the Doctor Who reference that I was expecting. So we still have to wait for it.
Half the staff are absent as they are stressed out, so the others get paired up with stress partners. Penny is on a new low by fibbing that Lindsay has a nervous breakdown after Lindsay gets paired up with Matt as stress partners.
So funny that Carol who doesn't say very much impersonates Clare in order to explain why she was absent. Despite this the others were unphased by it.
There were some kids who were having problems but the teachers don't take any notice of it but when Lindsay was faking a suicide attempt everybody took notice. This really proves that the teachers' problems are way more important than their students.
Shocked that Carol was eating a glass.
From the preview for next week, Andrew Lincoln returns as Simon.
Before this episode began the ABC showed a montage of new shows to come including seeing James Lance (Matt) in Absolute Power. |

Series Three Episode Seven:
Ah ha Simon is back. Quite funny that he walks on school grounds he falls down.
Quite funny with the punches when Simon sees Kurt and Brian.
Brian fancies the new canteen lady only for Simon to sleep with her. So typical of Simon's life.
Revealed that Simon had only travelled for three weeks in Europe.
Understandably that Brian would be upset with Simon over Eileen but a bit silly of Kurt to be upset with his as well simply because he did not travelled around the world.
Oh my just as Brian forgives Simon, Eileen does not fancy Simon anymore.
It was good to see Andrew Lincoln back as Simon. |

Doctor Who references in Series Three, Episode Eight shown last night - Simon (Andrew Lincoln) was talking to Brian about if he was to undergo a Doctor Who style regeneration who would he turn into.
However the following reference was the one I was expecting:
Doctor Who references here - Simon was talking to Brian about if he was to undergo a Doctor Who style regeneration who would he turn into.
However the following reference was the one I was expecting:
Simon and Matt (James Lance) were in the gent's toilet. Simon compares themselves to the regeneration from Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, as one is a successor to the other.
By mentioning the changeover from Colin Baker to Sylvester McCoy made Matt to remark "Are you comparing me to Sylvester McCoy?"
Other aspects of the episode -
The gunbox is shocking - as if anyone was going to give back the guns.
Quite disgusting what is found in Bob's office as Matt becomes acting head of his department just as Bob undergoes surgery.
Matt gets his revenge on Penny by lying to her that Bob wanted her to write some reports.
With Matt's temporary elevation, there's tension between him and Simon as Matt executes his authority to the fullest.
In the previous episode Penny said that she never liked Simon. In fact the both of them hardly spoke a couple of words to each other before Simon left for his "world tour". Yet here there are having a full length one on one conversation with each other and seem to get along due to Matt's dictatorial style. This of course has been helped by Matt sending them to Clare's office. Could not believe that she was still having lunch when she saw them.
Appalling that when Kayla, all Matt had to say was for her to get back to her class.
Knocking on Matt's door was very funny.
Very siily that Brian and Kurt debated whether their group have become a gang with more people in it. Not to surprise that just when their new splinter group gets started it quickly evaporates. (Poor Carol gets left behind when Brian and Kurt decided to give Carol's invitation card to Matt as a result of Bob coming back.)
Absolutely unbelievable that Liz, Penny and Carol were actually talking about the Black Hole.
This gets topped up when Simon puts Bob on a cart and drives him on his bike to school.
Quite cute that when Carol picks up a samurai sword in the gunbox only for it to turn out to be Kurt's Swiss Army knife.
A very funny ending when Kurt pushes Brian off the chair which led to other pushings.
By sheer coincidence a couple of hours after this episode was shown found out that Adrian Bower (Brian) appeared with David Tennant in last year's The Quatermass Experiment remake by reading David Tennant' first interview with DWM since becoming the Doctor in issue 359. |

Series Three, Episode Nine:
Liz comments that Brian and Kurt are good as married. So begins this powerful episode about the relationship between the two of them. This explores how two men who are not gay their value to each other. I have to say that I am lost for words to described what I am seeing in this relationship.
Quite funny that just as a swear box is in place Bob without knwoing it says a whole of profanities.
The last of Andrew Lincoln's last returned appearances as Simon and something goes very wrong just as he is about to leave. He lost a pile of essays. It is not until he admitted he lost them and the school term over that he finds them in his bag. It was right under his nose all this time.
Surprise that a school term ends here since there are now four episodes left of series three.
On a final note to this episode, where on Earth did that donkey come from!!! |
