www.theonering.net has reported that two Hobbit films will be made.
MGM and New Line are both involved with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh as executive producers but Jackson is not directing.
The Hobbit is aiming for a 2010 release, the sequel a year later and both films will be made simultaneously. |

| Been a while sice I read the books, but when did the hobbit have a sequal? As far as I remember Lord of the Rings follows the hobbit. The Silmarian was a prequal. |

I have been corrected on this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7375245.stm
The article says that the first movie will be based on the book while the second will be an original story focussing on the 60 years between The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings.
It also reports on Sir Ian McKellan returning to play Gandalf for the two films. |
