What story was your favourite of the 1963/4 series?
(And I'm using the familiar titles, rather than necessarily the 100% correct ones, whatever they may be!) |

I'm voting for "An Unearthly Child" mainly for the very first episode that introduced us to the Doctor and the iconic Police Box |

Ah, reasons. Good idea.
I voted for The Aztecs. Unlike many of its peers, it doesn't seem overly long (at seven episodes apiece, I don't think the obvious competitors for me, The Daleks and Marco Polo, lack sufficient story to warrant their length). Each of the regulars has a substantial role in the story (Susan is a bit short-changed), and the sub-plots are sufficiently connected that it is a whole story, not a collection of plotlines in the same setting.
Suffice to say I was pleased that this was the first Hartnell DVD. |

| I'd love to say An Unearthly Child, because of that first episode... but unfortunately it is just the first episode that deserves it. I voted for The Aztecs as well, because it's good with a strong story that doesn't fall apart or seem silly at all. |

| A very close call for me between The Keys of Marinus and The Aztecs. I enjoyed them both immensly. Marinus won for the 'magic' factor (ie. first impressions and I loved Hartnell in court in eps 5&6, William 'what a guy!' Russell held the show together superbly while Hartnell was away in eps 3&4), but if it were down to story alone I'd go for Aztecs. |

| I like the first story purely because it introduced the Doctor and TARDIS. |

| It has to be The Aztecs. There are two stories that stand out - this and Marco Polo, but where Marco Polo got the epic quality right, I went for the moral undertones of The Aztecs. Possibly the best performance of Barbara, as well. |
