Torchwood: Slow Decay

Slow Decay was a BBC novel by Andy Lane released in January 2007 and written by Andy Lane.

I haven't read this novel but I have listened to the abridged version on audiobook read by Burn Gorman and adapted by Joseph Lidster.

Slow Decay involves a pill to reduce people's weight. The concept of a pill reducing people's weight would later be used in Doctor Who: Partners In Crime written by Doctor Who showrunner and Torchwood creator Russell T Davies.

Whereas Partners In Crime was a very fun episode, Slow Decay presents a very horrifying situation of such a pill. Slow Decay is very gory in a lot of places.
Burn Gorman does very well in his reading of a very well done horror story.

In the CD sleeve notes Andy Lane dedicates Slow Decay to his best friend and best man Craig Hinton. Hinton was a Doctor Who novelist and had died of a heart attack on December 3 2006 just over a month after the debut of Torchwood.
We can only spectaculate now how Hinton would have handled a Torchwood story.
My Sci-Fi/Fantasy Security Council - Whoniverse, Blake's 7, Star Trek, Lost In Space, Babylon 5verse, Stargate, Buffyverse
